Darling Idea for Bachelorette Keepsake & Thank You Cards

By Wedding Darling · October 17th, 2012

How cute is this idea- have all your ladies print you a kiss onto a poster board for a unique bachelorette keepsake. Don’t feel like framing the board onto your wall? Photograph the board of kisses, make it into a Thank You note card on Shutterfly, and use these notes to thank your ladies for all they have done for you!

  2. Poetry Jewelry: $48.00
  3. Givenchy: $55.00

I am also dutifully pinning other great earrings on my new “Wedding: Earrings” Pinterest board here. I hope you enjoy!

Pink Ombré Inspirations for your Wedding

By Wedding Darling · October 3rd, 2012

The ombré trend (pronounced ahm-bray) has been in full swing for a while now and it’s easy to see why. There’s something about gradating shades of a color that’s very pleasing to the eye. Pink seems to be the most popular color for this trend, but I think it’s also amazing in blues and purples.

Love these Place Cards from ElizabethAnneDesigns.com

Floral Aisle from MarthaStewartWeddings

Cake Pops from Sweet Lauren Cakes.

And who can forget Gwen Stefani’s fabulous wedding dress!?

Do you plan on incorporating Ombré into your wedding scheme!? Do tell! xoxo

Gorgeous Head Piece by Jannie Baltzer with a Unique Placement

By Wedding Darling · September 19th, 2012

Ooh, look at this gorgeous hair piece by Danish based, Jannie Baltzer. I love the 1920s/Art Deco inspiration of how the flowers curve down the face and echo the tendrils of her hair on the other side.  There is something very princess-y (in a Never Ending Story kinda way) about the placement of these flowers to me. While the model has a narrow head, I think this would well suit wider heads, to make the face appear more delicate. Or this piece would be great to cover up a blemish- ha!

Shot List Ideas for your Wedding Photographer

By Wedding Darling · August 29th, 2012

One of the last things you will consider during the wedding planning process will be what type of photos you want capture on your special day. Hopefully your photographer is an organized pro and you’ve already given her a list of the people and groups that you must have snapped. In addition to the traditional Wedding Photography Checklist, it’s fun to get creative and think of some special and unique shots to capture. Like this bride jumping up and down on the bed!

Or kissing your pooch:

Your ladies’ reaction to your dress:

And let’s not forget the First Kiss Fist Pump!

Sweet Success for your Guests

By Wedding Darling · August 20th, 2012

When people drink (as you hope they will at your wedding) they get dulled pallets and crave salty/crunchy items. This desire for salty snacks is probably why desserts can go untouched at some weddings. Keeping this fact in mind, I was sure to stock my dessert table with these peanut, caramel, and chocolate covered pretzel “Bears on a stick” from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Now, my pretzel treats were bright and colorful to match my wedding and personality, but these elegant chocolate and white renditions below would exquisitely suit a more formal wedding.

At the end of the day, my “Bears on a Stick” were a Smashing success! Indeed, they were the first dessert to disappear! (and I had a lot of desserts Wink)

You’re Engaged!!! Now What?

By Wedding Darling · August 15th, 2012

What an exciting time! You’re getting MARRIED!!! These first few days of a proposal are swimmingly blissful. You get to relish in joy and excitement with the love of your life. BUT, and I hate to tug on your skirts up there on Cloud 9.. you do have a wedding to plan, and the sooner you do it, the happier a bride you will be, because then you will hopefully get your first picks of band, DJ, pastor, photographer, venue, etc. etc. etc! Yes, we have some work to do ladies!

Below are the Very first steps I would take in this process:

  1. Budget: Get a rough idea of what budget you’re working with. Ask your parents what they are willing to contribute. Evaluate your finances and see what you would be ok contributing. Finally, check in with his parents to see if they are willing to pitch in to make up any differences.
  2. Guest List: Ask your parents to write up a list of their absolutely “must” invite guests and say you will do all in your power to accommodate them given the restraints of a budget. If one set of parents demands a ton of guests, then perhaps they can pitch in more.. (eh hem).
  3. Venue: based on the rough numbers above (budget and guest count), you will now be able to start calling venues to get an idea of financial costs and calendar availabilities.
  4. Buy Wedding Darling the ebook!!! Seriously, I lay out every other step from there on out with brief, chronological, mini chapters. Yay Smile

Good Luck ladies! As always, I welcome your questions and am happy to blog the answers for all brides to see!

Real Rose Champagne Idea by Martha Stewart Weddings

By Wedding Darling · August 8th, 2012

This Rose Champagne idea from Martha Stewart Weddings caught my eye for its unique and charming touch. That said, it also looked either (a) expensive.. if you hire other people to do it, or (b) time consuming if you do it yourself. If you can get your florists or a team of friends to pitch in with this elegant idea, the effort would certainly not go unnoticed by your guests, toasting you on your big day!

iPhone App Lets Shoppers Search by Color: Cool Idea for Wedding Planning!

By Wedding Darling · August 5th, 2012

I found this cool concept by LuxeFinds on Springwise, one of my favorite business newsletters.

To quote them:

San Diego-based LuxeFinds bills itself as a “lifestyle search engine,” and its new iOS app – launched in May – zeroes in on color. The site explains: “No longer do you need to go through rack after rack of clothing to find that blouse in the perfect shade of pink. While on the go, immerse yourself in a virtual shopping mall where you’ll know in an instant if that pair of shoes on the shelf matches your dress at home.” Users can search by color for a variety of home decor, clothing, accessories and other items using LuxeFinds’ free app either by clicking on a color wheel or by snapping a photo of something they hope to match, according to a Cool Hunting report. When they find something they like, they can share it with friends via text, email, pin, post or tweet.

Wedding Tip: Buy Your Dad a Tie!

By Wedding Darling · July 17th, 2012

So, I’m giving myself 1 out of 5 diamond rings on this detail fail. Let me first state that both my planner (MAP Events) and I are the most thorough and detail oriented people imaginable. I’m not even kidding you (and I wish that I were) when I say that we exchanged nearly 5,000 emails in the year and a half leading up to my wedding (Hey, it was before Pinterest!). I had every detail nailed down to the teeniest twig in a flower arrangement. So when I came down the aisle to greet my dad half way (it was a Long lawn), I thought, “Oh wow- a Blue shirt! And Red tie! You don’t say…” Might I add that my wedding colors were varying shades of pink? Ha ha, I’m quite sure I told his wife the color scheme, but alas, it must have been lost in translation. Anyway, buy your Dad a tie: problem solved.

Btw- I wasn’t as miserable as this picture makes me look! It’s the only image I found on FB of us that shows his attire since I don’t have my official wedding photos yet! Plus, I thought it humorously captured the sentiment. I can assure you I didn’t dwell on my Dad’s wardrobe throughout the ceremony! Wink
