What an exciting time! You’re getting MARRIED!!! These first few days of a proposal are swimmingly blissful. You get to relish in joy and excitement with the love of your life. BUT, and I hate to tug on your skirts up there on Cloud 9.. you do have a wedding to plan, and the sooner you do it, the happier a bride you will be, because then you will hopefully get your first picks of band, DJ, pastor, photographer, venue, etc. etc. etc! Yes, we have some work to do ladies!
Below are the Very first steps I would take in this process:
- Budget: Get a rough idea of what budget you’re working with. Ask your parents what they are willing to contribute. Evaluate your finances and see what you would be ok contributing. Finally, check in with his parents to see if they are willing to pitch in to make up any differences.
- Guest List: Ask your parents to write up a list of their absolutely “must” invite guests and say you will do all in your power to accommodate them given the restraints of a budget. If one set of parents demands a ton of guests, then perhaps they can pitch in more.. (eh hem).
- Venue: based on the rough numbers above (budget and guest count), you will now be able to start calling venues to get an idea of financial costs and calendar availabilities.
- Buy Wedding Darling the ebook!!! Seriously, I lay out every other step from there on out with brief, chronological, mini chapters. Yay
Good Luck ladies! As always, I welcome your questions and am happy to blog the answers for all brides to see!
