Arabella Wedding Gown – Boho Chic Bliss

By Wedding Darling · April 24th, 2013

I’m not even a Boho Chic girl and this dress made me gasp. If you’re a Coachella devotee, use Tea Tree oil instead of Salicylic acid, are marrying a musician or holding your ceremony in a forrest, then this Arabella Gown is begging to be yours.

Bachelorette Party…in the Mountains

By Wedding Darling · February 27th, 2013

As I plan a dear friend’s Bachelorette Weekend, I can’t help but reflect on what a great time I had on my own adventure. I opted out of the customary Vegas route for something more intimate, random, and totally magical. To this day, that weekend in Yosemite with a few of my besties is still one of my all time favorite memories. None of us had a clue how to camp, which made the build up that much more hilarious. I was the only bachelorette in the woods (Hollah!) so I got a ton of attention from fellow hikers. And finally, it was the least expensive Bachelorette Party imaginable.

 Back Camera

We rode gentle horses, hiked awesome waterfalls, bathed naked in freezing waters, and giggled ’til we ached while lying on our backs, staring up at the stars. I share this post to encourage you to think out of the box with your own special weekend.

Protect Your High Heels with Solemates!

By Wedding Darling · February 19th, 2013

Got rocky terrain? Get Sole Mates! The last thing you want is to have your attendees resent your wedding for inadvertantly ruining their sole investments. Don’t think it happens? It does. I’ve seen gravel tear off leather Louboutins and grass stain sparkling Jimmy Choos. If your wedding is outdoors, chances are, your lady friends are in for some shoe sorrows. You can do one of two things: 1) warn your guests well in advance, or 2) offer these rubber protectors to save the day.

Heel Rubbers

I attended a wedding that offered a basket of shoe protectors for all the ladies (photo above). While they might look silly close up (photo below), I swear that guys don’t notice them (especially in grass), and that the rubbers really work.

I only wish I’d been smart enough to bring my Sole Mates with me to subsequent soirees! Note to self: I shall now leave a pair of Sole Mates in my purse for all future outdoor events!

Your Wedding: No Budget? No Problem.

By Wedding Darling · February 6th, 2013

While we all like to ogle over frothy, expensive weddings, few have the budget to cover every fantastical bridal whim. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from attending nearly forty weddings though, it’s that a big budget does not a better wedding make. I had the Best time at a wedding that I swear served Trader Joe’s appetizers, and the worst time at a wedding that clearly spent half a million dollars (for reals!). So please, if you have a tight budget or a real job and can’t afford the live turtledoves, or oversee the floral arrangements, I swear those details ultimately don’t matter. What does matter is having a great time with the ones that you love. (image below from SheFinds.com)

My suggestion is to assess what you really need and can’t live without (like music and a photographer). Then consider your friends and their talents. Perhaps you know someone who loves music and would be thrilled to make an iPod play-list for the night. Perhaps you know a photographer, or a baker, who could give you a generous discount as a wedding gift to you. You can also save money with online Save-the-Dates and RSVPs. Truly, there is no end to people’s creativity when it comes to saving money on the big day. Take this incredible DIY  affair that was featured on Style Me Pretty a few years ago. It’s so sweet you could cry, and OMG, the total budget came out to $2,000.00!!!

Seriously, read the story of that wedding: it’s Amazing. (photo by Sean Walker)
